Vijay the Chief Minister of Rajasthan is no different from any politician found through out the length and breadth of our sub-continent.Our chief ministers go around announcing such sums after each sucide bomb blast! As if two, three or even five lacs can make up for the loss of the loved ones and earning members...or as if this could ever make up even for the governments recurring negligence in performance of the duties they have been entrusted with.
Take the case of our Mariott Hotel, burning down to the ground.A massive truck bomb exploded about 500 yards away from the main building;it shattered the glass panes and flattened the cars in the car park killing and injuring drivers and people passing by .So far everything OK.
But then a fire starts in a room on the fourth floor-mind you this can have no concievable connection to the bomb blast 500 yards away and 4 floors below in height -it takes 20 minutes to spread to the next room - another 4 hours to spread to the whole floor. No one can put out this fire. And people are standing in their windows waiving to be rescued-and no one can rescue them.
I wonder where were the helicopters to throw a ladder down for rescue to those helpless people who burned to their death;where the fire engines to put out the blaze in the initial first hour before it spread;even why were the water sprinklers and fire hydrants every five star hotel has -or should have - to put out that blaze in the first room ..not there.
Who is responsible to ensure that the systems work. That the citizen has available at all places and all times the protection and emercengcy services he needs. And why do they feel $4000 paid for each death is enough to satisfy their consciounce?
Yes Michael each life valued at about $ 4000-less then the price of the watch the Chief Minister wears on her wrist!

”Vijay the Chief Minister of Rajasthan is no different from any politician found through out the length and breadth of our sub-continent.Our chief ministers go around announcing such sums after each sucide bomb blast! As if two, three or even five lacs can make up for the loss of the loved ones and earning members...or as if this could ever make up even for the governments recurring negligence in performance of the duties they have been entrusted with.

Wow! ”Every man has his price” as they say, but this is crazy!! Is that a high price or a low price according to the ”standards”?
