But I can understand where that remark comes from.Back in 1966 I was an O Cdt at RMA Sandhurst and had gone a whole year without the wonderful mangoes that can be found only in pakistan and India.
Imagine my joy when one day I discovered a plump fresh one being displayed in a basket of it’s own in the window of a shop on the main street of Alsershot!...and my dissapointment on reading the price 10 shillings !!! In those days my monthly pay was 20 pounds.Obviously i would have to do without the mangoes for another year.
